Overview

This diverse five-day course traces the stylistic development of furniture, ceramics, glass and metalwork in the context of European interiors and architecture between the late seventeenth century and the Second World War. It provides an understanding of the broader historical and cultural factors that have influenced the production and consumption of decorative items during the same period, as well as paying attention to the materials and techniques used in the making of those objects. Visits will be included to major London museums and collections.
