Sotheby's Institute — London Contemporary Art Lectures:
Crewe, Its Part In My Downfall by Bedwyr Williams

Bedwyr Williams, who showed in the Welsh Pavilion at the 2013 Venice Biennale and whose current show at the Barbican in London has attracted art world plaudits, will talk about his practice, which combines video with elements of performance and installation art. In works that are humorous, carnivalesque and at times dizzyingly complex, Williams examines topics ranging from astronomy to popular culture and the workings of the international art world, often incorporating autobiographical references. A gifted and subversive story-teller, he serves up narratives that are punctuated with comic asides but generally have a dark undertow.
