When speaking of African art, many people think of traditional ethnographic art, or else wildlife or tourist art. However, the artworks at auction are more likely to deal with contemporary issues of politics, economics, immigration, identity, race, gender, sexuality, etc. than depictions of tribesmen and the 'big five’.
