Fibers and Figures — On view December 6 - 11, 2017
Fibers and Figures is a group exhibition that brings together four artists that are each exploring the contemporary body through the creation of textile works. The artists either create works in solitude through various weaving techniques or in fostered interactive creation encounters. Overall, these works of art presented in this exhibition are truly inspired by the social encounters, personal histories, and individual growths of each artist. Each piece in the show is rendered in a unique manner from the textile materials used, to the manner of weaving and presentation of the piece. The works exhibit the skills of each artist in creating compelling textile works that clearly communicate the social issues and experimental growth of each artist.
Featured Artists are Liz Collins, Sarah Finkle, Aqeel Malcolm, and Lily Moebes.
The show is curated by Sotheby’s Institute of Art graduate student Andrea Moreno.
