We are proud to introduce our “Alumni Updates” for January, 2017. Thank you to who contributed. We will be asking for updates quarterly regarding new professional positions and promotions, new businesses launched, new articles and books published and other significant personal events that happened within the last 12 months*.

Maria Alcalde
Masters of Art Business, London, 2015
Since graduating from Sotheby’s Institute, Maria has gained experience, firstly, from researching on London’s public museums funding, and later, as an international sales manager in a commercial gallery (Cecilia Brunson Projects regarding its Chilean niche) and working as an Executive Director at a not for profit foundation (Fundación Tajamar, Santiago, Chile). She is currently Partner and Executive Director of TONIC:Latin-­American Art, Design & Architecture Magazine,on-­line platform and members club. It mainly focuses on researching their markets and collecting.

Jennifer Carty

Jennifer has been promoted to Assistant Curator at the Cantor Arts Center at Stanford University. Working on contemporary art exhibitions, commissions and permanent gallery rotations, Jennifer recently curated the exhibition New to the Cantor: Dashiell Manley.

Silvia Denaro

After spending 4 years in France where Silvia worked at Musée Würth France, she is now back in London where she has taken on a new position as Membership & Events Manager at Drawing Room.

Helen Epley
American Arts Course, New York, 1989
Helen is the Head Cataloguer at Greenwich Auction in Stamford, Connecticut. She is living in an old Queen Anne Victorian in Ridgefield with too many kids and dogs.

Sonia Kwiatkowski Everus
Masters of Art Business, New York, 2008
After nearly 7 years as a successful fundraiser for the arts, Sonia transitioned her career to focus on digital design and marketing. Most recently, she was promoted to Associate Designer at the advertising technology startup TripleLift.

Aurore Fournier
Masters of Art Business, New York, 2014
Aurore has been the Program Director at People's Liberty, in Cincinnati, Ohio since March 2015. People's Liberty is a philanthropic lab that invests directly in individuals through funding and mentorship, and brings together civic-minded talent to address challenges and uncover opportunities to accelerate the positive transformation of Greater Cincinnati. Aurore oversees all grant making programs, installations in their storefront and guides current, former and future applicants with their projects. Additionally, in July 2016, she attended Tate Intensive, a week-long program at Tate Modern, London with culture professionals from across the globe to share knowledge and exchange ideas about current practices and emerging trends that are shaping museums and galleries in the twenty-first century.

Mariél Frechette

Mariél is currently working in Development at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), running the young collector group, Avant-Garde, as well as the Southern Asian and East Asian art councils.

Anna Bierlein Handy

Anna is Client Strategy Manager for Impressionist & Modern Art at Christie's in New York, a position she has held for two years. Anna lives in Brooklyn with her husband and two kids.

Caitlin Harpster
Masters of Contemporary Art, London, 2011
Caitlin has recently been promoted to Director of Development for the Mattress Factory museum of contemporary art in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Caitlin started with the museum in 2012 and has been leading the Development Department since April 2015, most recently serving as the museum's Fundraising and Donor Relations Officer.

Elizabeth Higginbotham

Elizabeth re-located from New York to Boston in September to join the team at DTR Modern Galleries as a Senior Art Consultant and Director of Marketing and Social Media. She focuses on building corporate and private collections and growing the DTR brand.

Erika Hirugami
Masters of Art Business, Los Angeles, 2015
Erika has been awarded a Getty Foundation Scholarship to present her research on Big Data and Museums at the California Association of Museums Conference in Sacramento. As the Founder and CEO of CuratorLove, which became a global enterprise in 2016, she has produced several aesthetic dossiers and a series of curatorial projects in London and across the US. CuratorLove’s future partnerships include exhibitions at Jai & Jai Gallery and Taj Art, as well as other galleries and museums abroad.

Laura A. Hyatt

After 6 years with LAND (Los Angeles Nomadic Division), most recently serving as the Associate Director, Laura has recently started at the Hammer Museum as the Manager of Membership and Annual Giving.

Candy has been working at artnet Auctions in the Post War and Contemporary Department since 2014, and was recently promoted to a Junior Specialist role. Prior to joining the team at artnet, Candy worked in publishing at Art + Auction magazine.

Nicole Liphardt

Nicole is commencing her Masters in Museum Studies at Harvard University in January 2017. She founded Athena Advisory - a comprehensive and distinctive art advisory for high-net worth and ultra high-net worth individuals and corporations, providing art collecting advice, collection management, and sales and acquisitions of art through an extensive network of market experts.

Sammi Yiyuan Liu
Masters of Contemporary Art, London, 2010
Sammi currently owns an art gallery in the Beijing 798 art district, called Tabula Rasa Gallery, and is also the founder of the first outsider art project - Almost art project - in China. Every year, they produce a catalogue concurrent with the project, and this year, they published a book, in Chinese and English, on a Chinese outsider artist. The book can be found in AAA library in HK.

Analissa Moreno

Analissa Moreno began working for the Houston-based artist and founder of Escapism, John Ross Palmer, in November 2016 after the untimely closing of Morton Auctioneers. John Palmer Art is an artist run studio and gallery in the Heights, Houston. Mr. Palmer also mentors three artists a year as a part of the non-profit Art Launch. Noelle Newell
17th and 18th Century Decorative Arts Course, London, 1987
Since 2015, Noelle has wrote 13 articles for WSI-mag (Wall Street International) where she writes about Travel, Art, Fashion, Entertainment, Architecture and Design. She also has picked up writing for Aspire Design & Home - a quarterly shelter magazine - print and online. In 2015, she wrote for East Coast Home and Design and for VENÜ magazine, where she wrote about an antique tour of Venice for the former and about Paris Design Week for the latter. Noelle will write about Maison Objet & Paris Deco Off - the two big design fairs. She continues to work as a freelance interior designer and part-time at Christie's.

Christina Pannos

Christina has joined Howe & Hutton, Ltd. as Of Counsel and has broad experience in art law, nonprofit law, and contract law. She has represented art market clients from artists to collectors to galleries. Christina has advised and represented clients outside the art world in complex contract negotiation, corporate structure, commercial real estate leasing, and securities and investment. She also teaches Legal Drafting: Art Market Transactions at DePaul University College of Law.

Steve Sabella

Steve's memoir 'The Parachute Paradox' was published by Kerber Verlag in September 2016. With book launches at ICI Berlin, SOAS University London, Al Serkal Avenue Dubai and Contemporary Art Platform Kuwait, the book has received a number of highly regarded reviews including IMEU, Selections Magazine, Harpers Bazaar Art Arabia and an interview with Spitz Magazine. Steve was interviewed on 'The Parachute Paradox' by NPR Radio in a two part episode aired on 04/05.01.17. Steve's work Metamorphosis was also featured by Artnet to represent 2016's Context Miami Art Fair.

Jacqueline Minneman Schweiger

Jacqueline recently graduated from the Flatiron School's iOS Development program in New York, NY, which prepares students for careers in mobile app development. She was awarded a Mobile Dev Corps Fellowship from the City of New York to attend the program, and her capstone project is available for download in the App Store. After nearly three years leading membership for the Appraisers Association of America and working for a recently acquired online marketplace for the past year, Ana-Alicia joined the Gallery Relations team at Artsy in January 2016. Artsy is the world’s largest—and fastest growing—marketplace for buying and selling art. Ana-Alicia was married in October 2016.

Jomjai Srisomburananont

JAI & JAI Gallery, based in Los Angeles, was founded in 2012 by sisters, Jomjai and Jaitip Srisomburananont. Jai & Jai Gallery focuses on maintaining a trans-disciplinary program by collaborating with and exhibiting the works of contemporary architects and artists. The undercurrent mission of Jai & Jai Gallery is to engage in and cultivate discussions that lie within the intersection of art and architecture and its influences on one another. The fresh perspectives of the gallery exhibitors reveal disparate influences and practices, but share a common affinity in pushing the boundaries of theory, fabrication, and representation through art, architecture, and design.

Isabel de Vasconcellos
Masters of Post-War Contemporary Art, London, 1996
Isabel’s book Fourth Plinth: How London Created the Smallest Sculpture Park in the World has recently been published. A commission from the Mayor’s Office at the Greater London Authority and published by Art / Books, it covers the history of all the fourth plinth commissions from the inception of the project in the late 1990s, to the more recent commission by David Shrigley at Trafalgar Square. She is also continuing to work freelance with artists and galleries, notably with British artist Saad Qureshi, whose first public commission, conceived for the new Land Securities development in Westminster, will be launched this Spring.
