On September 26th at the archives of the L.A. Louver Gallery, Christine Kuan, CEO/Director, Sotheby’s Institute of Art, and Yayoi Shionoiri, Executive Director of the Estate of Chris Burden and the Studio of Nancy Rubins, will present “Image Rights in the Digital Era” — an important area impacting artists’ legacies via scholarship, social media, licensing, and catalogues raisonnés—at the Artist’s Legacy Planning Workshop. The Workshop is hosted by the Institute for Artists’ Estates from September 24-27, 2019 at art venues throughout Los Angeles, including the Getty Research Institute and the studio of artist Enrique Martinez Celaya.
Expert presenters also include: Chris Dercon, President of the Réunion des Musées Nationaux - Grand Palais; Karen Dunbar, Executive Director of the Michael Asher Foundation; and Richard Benefield, Chief Operating Officer of the de Young Museum in San Francisco and former Executive Director of The David Hockney Foundation.
The Institute for Artists’ Estates is based in Berlin and serves as a central reference point for all matters concerning artist estates, with specific focus on research, networking, managing and consulting. Sotheby’s Institute of Art-New York MA in Art Business Alumnus Karl von Trott is a member of the Institute’s leadership team.
