Vittoria Mastrandrea

Faculty, MA Art Business, London

Vittoria Mastrandrea is an academic and researcher in the fields of art law, art business, and heritage studies. She recently completed her PhD in the law department of the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE); her research examined the legal, cultural and theoretical implications of ‘national treasure’ designation and retention in the UK.

Vittoria is a qualified solicitor in England and Wales. She holds an LLB from the University of Kent and an MSc in Art, Law and Business from the University of Glasgow/Christie’s Education.

Vittoria has previously held teaching positions at Christie’s Education (Art, Law and Business MSc) and Kingston University (Art Business MA). She is the writer and presenter of the Christie’s Education Online ‘Art Law’ course and has guest lectured for LSE and Christie’s Education short courses.

Vittoria’s research interests consider the intersections between legal regulations and the art market — in particular heritage creation and protection, the implications of trade of cultural objects across jurisdictions, and the ‘in-between ’spaces of legal and cultural value. She has presented at conferences in the UK and abroad, has published in the International Journal of Cultural Property, and has an upcoming joint publication for Intellectual Property Quarterly. She intends future publication of her PhD research.
