In addition to the growing suite of courses offered to students on our campuses in NYC and London, Sotheby’s Institute of Art also creates custom courses for educational or cultural institutions with specific training needs.
Sotheby’s Institute of Art is delighted to be delivering a new suite of programs for our collaboration with Xia Jing Shan Arts and Culture Foundation, Taipei in 2022. The course 'Magnificence: Collecting' will be led by Dr. Katie Hill, Program Director, MA Modern and Contemporary Asian Art, Sotheby’s Institute of Art, London and Dr. Chung-Chieh Chao, CEO, Xia Jing Shan Arts and Culture Foundation, Taipei.
We are delighted to welcome you to this four-part course ‘Magnificence: Collecting’, which will provide a comprehensive look at approaches to art collecting in the ever-changing global landscape. It will offer important examples of art collecting and discuss how collections evolve and offer a variety of approaches that can enable a successful collection to stand the test of time. Speakers include a well-known collector and gallerist in the field of contemporary art, a tech entrepreneur on the new category of NFTs and a museum curator in charge of developing and evolving a collection of historic objects for contemporary audiences. Personal collections, museum collections and collecting contemporary art will be explored with current knowledge on collecting trends, approaches to collecting and how taste of different categories of collector in the 21st century influences the ongoing development of collections.
We are delighted to confirm that the sessions will be delivered in Mandarin and include time for questions.
