Career Services offers an array of resources and services for Master's, Graduate Certificate, Semester Program and Summer Study London students and alumni.
We offer a multitude of resources and services that give students and alumni the competitive edge. These services include:
Although Career Services does not provide job placement, we offer an internal job board with an array of job opportunities from employers that target our students specifically. We also work closely with a select number of art world employers to align students and organizations for successful employment fits. Most importantly, we offer the tools and resources needed to help students develop their career pathways.
We encourage students to begin using Career Services resources early. Start by creating a CV or resume and getting this reviewed. Also join arts networking organizations and attend Career Service events such as panel discussions in order to network and meet professionals. Speak with art world experts, your academic advisor and Director of Career Services about potential career paths. An internship can be a great way to learn more about a career path and gain professional skills. Internship and job opportunities are regularly posted on the online vacancy portal SIAconnect.
Career Services offers highly tailored resources including a guide on marketing yourself effectively that includes tips, samples and resources. Career guides are posted on the Student Portal. Resume development workshops are offered at the New York campus first semester and students are strongly encouraged to attend. Personalized resume reviews are provided by career services prior to workshops, and post workshop after a student has developed a working draft of resume.
You can find an internship by attending internship fairs (we don’t currently offer fairs at New York campus), applying to postings on the Sotheby’s online opportunities board, SIAconnect, applying to organizations directly (the New York campus provides a comprehensive “Internship Guide” highlighting internship opportunities in the New York City marketplace), asking your faculty advisor and Director of Career Services for suggestions of opportunities to target that meet your interests and needs.
The Sotheby’s Institute online vacancy portal is a comprehensive online opportunities database that includes over 1,000 registered employers. A large pool of employers work regularly with Sotheby’s Institute in their search for student and graduate talent for jobs and internships. Students are given login details early in the first semester and can access the platform here.
Alumni may access the opportunities database here. For alumni who are first time users of this database, please click here.
