Sotheby’s Institute of Art is excited to help foster new generations of art market experts with specialization in the Latin American art market and to expand our global network of art industry professionals.

Sotheby’s Institute of Art is delighted to announce a new partnership with CENTRO, Mexico's leading institution for higher education in architecture, design, and film on its new MA in Contemporary Art, Markets, and Management (Maestría en Contemporáneo Arte, Mercados y Negocios). The program is the first and only degree of its kind in Latin America to combine faculty from CENTRO, the highest ranked institution of design and creativity in Mexico, and Sotheby’s Institute of Art, the global leader in the study of art business.

Kerstin Erdmann, Director of the MA in Contemporary Art, Markets, and Management at CENTRO and Director of OMR gallery states, is proud to announce that CENTRO will be the first university in Latin America to offer the MA in Contemporary Art, Markets and Management in collaboration with Sotheby’s Institute of Art.

Home to international galleries, high caliber art and book fairs, robust private collections and a multitude of renowned artists, Mexico City is ready for such a specialized program that will help shape the next generation of cultural movers and artistic scholars. We are thrilled  to offer another component to the dynamic Mexico City art scene and aid in paving the way for new opportunities.

Graduates from the MA in Contemporary Art, Markets, and Management program will be well positioned to create and lead the next generation of innovative art and design businesses in Latin America and around the world. Drawing on faculty, curriculum and professional networks from both CENTRO and Sotheby’s Institute of Art, students will learn how business fundamentals such as finance, strategy, and marketing apply to the evolving art and design industries in Mexico City and beyond. Field study trips to New York City and Los Angeles will provide students with an international context for art markets and management in two of the world’s most important artistic centers.

With this partnership with CENTRO, Sotheby’s Institute of Art expands its academic programming in the Latin American region, an important emerging art market on the world stage. Sotheby’s Institute of Art-New York MA field study has included Mexico City, São Paulo, Bogotá, Havana and in the future, students will be able to build new relationships with CENTRO students and faculty.

Christine Kuan, CEO of Sotheby’s Institute of Art said, “Sotheby’s Institute of Art is excited to help foster new generations of art market experts with specialization in the Latin American art market and to expand our global network of art industry professionals.”
