This course is taught in Mandarin.
New technologies continue to impact the production, consumption, and transaction of cultural objects. From artificial intelligence (AI) to non-fungible tokens (NFTs) to the metaverse, the rules of engagement are being radically redefined as we speak. This course charts the changing reality of contemporary digital culture by considering these new aesthetics in relation to more familiar histories of art.
Course participants will gain an understanding of how artists are incorporating technology into their practice, how museums and galleries are re-evaluating the rules of display, the potential of the blockchain as a new art commercial ecosystem, and how NFTs can unite fine art with cryptoculture.
The course includes guest speakers from the heart of the NFT conversation and concludes with a short project for students to apply their knowledge.
