Betsy Thomas is the founder and director of Thomas Art Advisory LLC, an art advisory and appraisal firm based in New York. She works closely with private collectors and institutions advising them on how to build high-quality collections as well as managing sales of estates, private and corporate collections as well as helping them navigate the charitable donation landscape. Her breadth of expertise spans a range from early 18th c. to Contemporary Masters. An auction house veteran, In her 15-year career, she served as Associate Specialist in the European Paintings Department at Christie’s New York. During her time at Christie’s, her responsibilities included organizing bi-annual sales, conducting appraisals, and serving an international clientele of buyers and consignors. She currently teaches an MA level course on Collection Building + Art Advisory , Art Market Research + Valuation and runs an online premier course entitled The Art of Collecting. She also leads the MA Hybrid course Valuation and Art Market Research. She is a frequent contributor to Fine Art Connoisseur Magazine and has written for other privately published catalogues.
