Patricia Morchel

Lead Instructor, Pre-college

Patricia is the Lead Instructor for this art history course at Sotheby’s Institute of Art. She is also an Assistant Professor of Art and Art Education and the Coordinator of Art Education at Bridgewater State University. In addition, Patricia teaches a variety of art history, museum studies, art education, and studio art courses for Brown University, Columbia University, and Harvard University. She is also a practicing artist with a focus on organic abstract painting and drawing that explores the intersections of art and mindfulness. Patricia has worked at The Museum of Modern Art, The Peabody Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology at Harvard University, The Harvard Museum of Natural History, and The Morris Museum. She previously taught Advanced Placement Art History and Studio Art at Hillsborough High School. Patricia earned a Doctorate in Art and Art Education from Columbia University, a Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction certification through the Center for Mindfulness and Compassion affiliated with Harvard Medical School and the Cambridge Health Alliance, a Master of Liberal Arts in Museum Studies from Harvard University, a Master of Arts in Art and Art Education from Columbia University, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a major in Visual Arts including a Painting concentration and a minor in Art History from Rutgers University.
