February 18, 2026

Join us for an evocative exploration of the artistic tastes of women who have shaped the history of art.

This online masterclass will delve into the rich material worlds of Isabella d’Este, Madame de Pompadour, Isabella Stewart Gardner, and Peggy Guggenheim, and offer a tantalizing glimpse of the works of art they collected.

We will consider what motivated their collecting ambitions, and see how they mobilised art and patronage as a means of transcending the gender conventions of their day.

Speakers:

Dr Barbara Lasic, Senior Lecturer, MA in Historic Art and Design, London

Elisabeth Bogdan, Subject Leader, History of Design, MA in Historic Art and Design, London.

This online masterclass is organised by the MA in Historic Art and Design.
