Alia Al-Senussi

Dr Alia Al-Senussi is a renowned member of the global contemporary art world, an active cultural strategist, writer, patron, public speaker and academic, with a focus on cultural
diplomacy. She holds a number of non-profit board and committee positions at organisations such as Tate (Tate Modern Advisory Council and the Middle East North Africa Acquisitions Committee, previously Chair Tate Young Patrons), Guggenheim (Middle East Council), and Delfina Foundation (Strategic Advisory Board) amongst many others.

Dr Al-Senussi is the founding Chairman of the K11 International Council and the Global Co-Chair of the LACMA Ambassadors. Working with Art Basel for nearly 15 years with a current role of Senior Advisor and International Outreach VIP for the UK and MENA, as well Dr Al-Senussi works as Senior Advisor to the Diriyah Biennale Foundation under the Saudi Ministry of Culture.

She has a PhD in Politics from SOAS University of London and is an affiliated scholar and guest lecturer at Brown University’s Watson Institute for International and Public Affairs and its Center for Middle East Studies. Over the years, Dr Alia has been a regular guest lecturer at the Sotheby’s Institute of Art, Art and Business course. In 2025 Dr Alia is also a visiting professor at VCU Qatar with a focus on teaching about the art world ecosystem.
