Join Magnus Renfrew & Melanie Fasche for a conversation about Magnus‘ career, the development of art fairs in Asia and what lies ahead.

Over the past two decades the art market in Asia has experienced rapid growth. The growth is reflected by the development of art infrastructure, particularly art fairs, and regional art ecosystems.

Let’s take stock and use art fairs as our lens, explore how art fairs have developed across East Asia and South-East Asia, discuss which role they are playing in each regional ecosystem, and speculate what the future might hold. Magnus Renfrew is one of the few people who has not only witnessed the rapid expansion firsthand since the 2000s but also shaped its development by founding and co-founding several major art fairs in Asia, each playing a significant role in developing regional ecosystems, and bringing artists from Asia to international prominence.

Join Magnus Renfrew (Art Historian, Curator, and Author & Founder of Art HK) and Melanie Fasche (Deputy Program Director, MA in Art Business, Sotheby’s Institute of Art) for a conversation about Magnus’ career, the development of Art HK, Art Basel Hong Kong, Taipei Dangdai, Art SG, and Tokyo Gendai, and what lies ahead for art fairs in Asia in today’s fast-changing world.

The conversation will be followed by a drinks reception.
